Polynesian Cultural Performance

Last week all classes worked with Tony Mason in the hall. On Friday, every class performed to celebrate their learning about Polynesian culture. Room 14 were amazing, as were all the classes!

Acorn Art!

Check your serial numbers!

Today we went to see Bryan and Bobby in the hall. They told us all about the importance of keeping a record of serial numbers. They told the children about the huge number of unclaimed lost and stolen items the police have in storage. The children would like to go on a hunt around at home to search for things with serial numbers. We had a huge list of items after our chat this afternoon. Our list included things like T.V.s, i-pads, i-pods, phones, cameras, laptops, computers, DVD and CD players, radios and watches.
Once you have recorded your serial numbers, log on to:
www.snap.org.com for a chance to win $2000.

A shared story written today by Room 14 children

THE BROKEN WINDOW
Yesterday the rubbish bin fell back onto the window and it smashed.  Today the man came to fix Room 14's window.  First, he put a cloth on the floor to catch the glass. Next, he scraped away the old putty that was holding the window in. Then, he tapped out the broken glass and took it away into the van. After that, he put in a new window while we were doing our Discovery writing. He stuck it in place with the new putty. Now, we have a new, shiny, clean window that we have to be careful with.

Relay For Life

I am taking part in the Christchurch Relay For Life on 22nd March. Three of my friends are currently being treated for Cancer. There is a collection bucket on my desk. Any donations would be very greatly received. Relay For Life is an inspiring community event that gives everyone a chance to celebrate cancer survivors and caregivers; remember loved ones lost to cancer; and fight back by raising awareness and funds to support the work of the Cancer Society. Team members walk and jog through the night, symbolising the fact that cancer never sleeps. You can also donate on the website: http://www.relayforlife.org.nz. Click on Donate, then Team Kidney, then you can search for my name. – Thanks so much – Antonia ☺

Maths Buddies

Each pair of Maths buddies had fun adding up the numbers on two dice. The children were fantastic at taking turns as well as doing amazing addition!

Brave Khyla!

Poor Khyla spent a night in hospital after having surgery on her arm. What a brave girl. Khyla told us all about her experience. She showed us her X-Ray, special protective clothes from surgery and her scented breathing mask. Khyla has been well looked after today by her lovely Room 14 friends.
